Waiakea Water is Leading the Pack in Health, Sustainability, and Social Responsibility

Despite what you might think, not all water is created equally. Now you might ask, how is that possible? Well, Waiakea Water showcases why it is even more important to drink eight glasses of water a day, eight glasses of alkaline water that is.

We do not often think about the way pH affects the things we consume and our bodies. However, knowing the pH of the water we drink every day is important when it comes to maintaining proper cell and tissue health. Ph works on a scale from 0 to 14. The lower a number on the ph scale is, the more acidic the substance. The higher the number on the pH scale, the more alkaline the substance. 0 is completely acidic, 14 is completely alkaline, and 7 is neutral. Different parts of the body maintain different pH balances, and that is completely normal. But overall, our body needs to maintain a fairly neutral pH of 7.4 in order to be healthy and ward off disease.

When shopping for a bottle of water at the grocery store, you are more than likely going to stumble upon something pretty acidic. Most brands range from 4-7 on the pH scale. However, Waiakea has a new theory when it comes to pH. Waiakea’s organically sourced, sustainable bottled waters have a natural alkaline pH of 8.8. This naturally occurring alkaline pH makes it the water a great antioxidant that can help detox the body with electrons that help get rid of the diseases in the bloodstream.

A Unique Approach to Water

Waiakea is hardly an average bottled water company. They are not just organically sourced, but involved in multiple global sustainability efforts. Ryan Emmons, CEO, founder Waiakea in 2012. Emmons grew up in two of the most beautiful states in the US, California and Hawaii. Surrounded by the beauty of nature in his childhood, Ryan Emmons developed a deep appreciation for the environment and healthy, clean living. The idea for Waiakea originated while Ryan Emmons was near a bountiful water source. Ryan Emmons discusses the inception of Waiakea  He states, “This, and having worked on charitable efforts in Africa, led me to begin developing the concept for Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water after discovering my family there had access to one of the most naturally healthy, pure, and sustainable water sources in the world.” Ryan Emmons’ water work is on track to help save the environment.

Volcanic Water

Waiakea is naturally alkaline water, and the first Hawaiian volcanic water that has a unique process of filtration. Waiakea water goes through 14,000 feet of porous volcanic rock through the Mauna Loa volcano.

The naturally alkaline water is the first Hawaiian Volcanic At the Mauna Loa, it rains 360 out of 365 days in the year. Therefore, the water at the volcano is flowing constantly instead of remaining stagnant in an aquifer. Waiakea becomes alkaline through all of the minerals present in the water at Mauna Loa, such as magnesium and calcium. Once Waiakea water has gone through the volcano and is ready be be bottled, the water has a naturally occurring pH balance of 8.8.

In the Hawaiian language, Mauna Loa means “Long Mountain”. This volcano is a prominent and ancient figure in Hawaii is the planet’s most active volcano.

Mauna Loa is 33,000 feet above sea floor, which actually makes it the tallest mountain in the world when measured from base to top. The rock in Mauna Loa could fill the Grand Canyon 18 times.

Filtering Waiakea water from a volcano is revolutionary technology, and because of the unique process, Waiakea water has life-altering benefits.

The Benefits of Alkaline Water

Alkaline water can help improve one’s health in a variety of ways. The Annals of Otology Rhinology, and Laryngology, a medical journal found that drinking water with a pH of 8.8 compared to the typical acidic water bottles can actually mitigate symptoms of acid reflux when used in conjunction with physician treatment. In fact, traditionally acidic bottled water was proven to be ineffective in acid reflux treatment because the human produced pepsin only reacts in the presence of acid because of the hydrogen ions. Therefore, the hydrogen in bottled water combined with the acidic pH has no benefit to acid reflux, unlike the alkaline water in Waiakea.

Alkaline water like Waiakea can actually help neutralize stomach acid because the alkaline water has natural bicarbonate that can permanently inactivate pepsin because pepsin is activated by contact with acid.

In addition to helping with acid reflux, drinking Waiakea helps balance the pH of the body and helps boosts hydration. In the 2010 study published in The Journal of the International Society of Sports Medicine, people who drank alkaline water such as  Waiakea had an improved acid-base balance and were more hydrated, compared to those drinking tap water.

What makes Waiakea special is the silica it contains. Waiakea, due to its alkaline properties, provides more than the recommended daily value or RDV of silica, which is 30 milligrams. Waiakea surpasses the RDV and provides 32.4 milligrams. In 2010, a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that silica in drinking water can actually slow down the aging process by reducing the risk of cognitive decline. By consuming 10 mg/day of silica via drinking water, one can reduce their risk of Alzheimer’s by 11 percent.

The Wonders of Waiakea

Not only is Waiakea packed with life-altering benefits through its alkaline pH, but it was named the Top Volcanic Bottles Water Label by 10 Best Waters. Waiakea bottled water, produced from the beautiful Mauna Loa volcano is healthy and delicious. The preserver electrolytes, calcium, magnesium, and other minerals help to naturally heal the body and prolong life. Waiakea volcanic water is not only delicious and refreshing, but dedicated to a healthy on-the-go lifestyle from working professionals, to casual joggers. Sourced from the purest environment on earth, Waiakea almost seems to have magical Hawaiian powers, but that is probably just the effect of the alkaline.
