Amazon Announces That It Will Pay Its Employees $15 per Hour

Amazon will be paying its employees $15 per hour starting on November 1. This applies to seasonal, part-time and full-time employees. Amazon has 250,000 part-time and full-time workers. It also has 100,000 seasonal workers.

He also stated that he looks forward to the change and wants his competitors to change. The minimum wage in America has been $7.25 per hour since 2009. Amazon is also pushing for a federal minimum wage increase.

Amazon is one of the biggest employers in America. It has also hired more people than any other company in America over the past decade. Amazon plans to hire 50,000 more people and create a second headquarters. The second headquarters will be located in Washington D.C., Chicago or Atlanta.

Senator Bernie Sanders has been one of the people who has criticized Amazon for not paying its workers enough. He has compared the wage of Amazon workers to Jeff’s net worth. Jeff’s net worth is $165 billion, which makes him one of the richest people in the world.

Workers have been pushing for $15 per hour for several years. Many other companies have responded to the pressure. Target recently announced that it would be raising its minimum wage to $11 per hour. It will raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2020. Disneyland, which is located in California, will raise its minimum wage to $15 per hour in 2019. Disneyworld in Florida will raise its minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2021.

Walmart raised its minimum wage to $11 per hour back in February. Jay Carney is the senior vice president of global corporate affairs for Amazon. He stated that his company will continue to advocate for a higher wage.
