Twenty percent of Republicans and Democrats view each other as being evil. This information is based on a poll that was taken from October 30 to November 2. There were 3,200 people involved in the survey. The results of the poll show that America is getting more divided.
Many of the people poll stated that they believed that the other party was bigoted and hateful. Sixty-one percent of Democrats stated that Republicans were bigoted and hateful. Only 31 percent of Republicans polled felt the same way about Democrats.
Fifty-five percent of Democrats stated that the Republicans were ignorant. Forty-nine percent of the Republicans felt the same way about Democrats. Furthermore, fifty-four percent of Democrats stated that Republicans were spiteful. Forty-four percent of republicans stated that Democrats were spiteful.
The poll also asked people to use words to describe how they felt about the other party. Twenty-two percent of Democrats stated that the Republicans were selfish, greedy, bad and fearful. Twenty-six percent of Republicans stated that Democrats were angry, socialist, violent and power-hungry.
Most of the people polled did not view the party as being kind or thoughtful. Only 4 percent of the people polled stated that the other side was fair. Three percent of Democrats, and 4 percent of Republicans stated that they believed that the other side was thoughtful. Two percent of Democrats described Republicans as being kind. Three percent of Republicans thought that Democrats were kind.
Politics can divide people who are in the same family. Ten percent of the people polled stated that they would be extremely disappointed if someone from their family married a person from a different political party. Sixty-eight percent of all of the people surveyed stated that they would not be too disappointed if someone from their family married a person from the opposing political party.
