The stereotypical customer service representative always gets a bad rap as someone who isn’t there to help but simply clock in and clock out to receive their paycheck. For Dana Bailey, and all of the other customer service members at USHEALTH Advisors, that mindset couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Since a young age, Dana has valued the importance of being able to serve others, and it’s her giving attitude and optimistic spirit that has led her to the success she’s enjoyed in life. Today we’re going to learn a little more about what makes Dana a special part of the USHEALTH Advisors team and how we can all aim to be a little more like her.
Her Relationship with Rick
With a loving and warm childhood that taught her to keep up with the boys, Dana knew what she wanted out of life since her teen years – to be with Rick. She and her beau started dating in 1978 in Fort Worth, Texas, and while they longed to get married, her father made one stipulation: a marriage license could only accompany a high school diploma.
Not one for sitting in class and taking notes, Bailey ended up enrolling in the local college in order to get enough credits to graduate. Rick was right along with her, helping her study and ensuring that she performed well. Only a mere one month after graduating, they got married and have enjoyed almost 40 years of wedded bliss.
Helping Others at USHEALTH Group
Dana’s childhood was incredibly formative, as she learned the value of serving others and through her marriage to Rick notes that just a little bit of help can go a long way. To this end, she started working in the health coverage industry as a customer service representative. While this might be a difficult task for some, an 8-hour work day flies by for Dana as she gets to help those who are truly in need.
She works in a management capacity at USHEALTH Group, a health coverage organization that offers a portfolio of products to individuals across the nation. Families and small business owners alike can benefit from USHEALTH Group’s vision, dental, disability, or life policies knowing that when they need assistance the most, people like Dana will be there to help.
The mission at USHEALTH Advisors is one of HOPE: Helping Other People Everyday, and Bailey and her team are exceptional at it. Part of their success comes from Dana’s own team building attitude, as she makes an effort to greet each person with a high five at the start of the day. She and her team were recently awarded the Gold Stevie Award for Customer Service, marking that they are some of the best in the world at what they do.
Despite an amazing career and a close-knit family of three children and four grandchildren, life wasn’t always smooth sailing. Her husband Rick was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and while doctors were hopeful that a variety of treatments would offer a comfortable period of time for him, he had been told that there is little chance of remission.
This devastating blow to the Bailey family was one that could crush anyone, and while it’s still a very emotional subject for Dana, her strength and optimism at the time worked miracles. Through multiple rounds of treatment, physicians were shocked at how well Rick responded and they were cleared to continue with life as usual, which included taking some much-needed vacation time.
Rick and Dana’s love story is truly one for the history books, as the couple enjoyed playing poker and dancing at local Texas hotspots. She joked that the only time she’s not willing to serve and give a helping hand is during these card matches, as the loser had to make the next batch of drinks for the group!
Love And Happiness
Bailey did not have much time left with Rick, and instead of being consumed with worry, she lived each day as their last, made sure she kissed him every day, gave a genuine please and thank you regularly, and offered the utmost in support and care when at work, and even to this day, though Rick has passed, she infuses a spirit of positivity into everything that she does.
Individuals that find themselves needing help with their policy will be lucky to get Dana on the other end of the customer service telephone line. Her infectious spirit and willingness to live out the HOPE mission in everything she does is what makes her such a valuable asset to the organization. As a customer service manager with an incredible team around her, Dana can be seen with a smile on her face every day.
