Kisling, Nestico & Redick (KNR) Takes the Polar Bear Jump for Charity

Kisling Nestico & Redick (KNR) polar bear plunge

The Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump took place on Saturday, February 23rd at Portage Lakes State Park. Many brave participants dove into the frigid water for thrill, excitement, and of course charity. Included in the participants are the attorneys and staff members from the law firm, Kisling, Nestico & Redick (KNR).

However, these staff members were not only drawn to the excitement of diving into frigid water, it was also the chance for them to give back to the community.

KNR took the plunge to help raise money for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. Last year, the company raised nearly $27,000. This money was put to good use and helped to feed hungry people in the Akron, Ohio, area. This year, Kisling, Nestico & Redick saw even better results, with the team raising $30,000.

Roughly one in five children in the Akron, Ohio, area are food insecure. So, the money that is raised every year from the Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump goes a long way toward helping to feed children who really need it. The Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank can provide four meals for as little as $1. So, the money from the Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump can provide hundreds of thousands of meals.

This makes the Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump an extremely important source of funding for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, and a very important community event. It has also grown in size since starting in 2004 when only 70 people jumped into the freezing lake.

This year, the charity event raised $127,071 for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. This could provide up to 500,000 meals for the needy. This is an astonishing amount of meals and would go a long way toward preventing starvation for those in need.
